Latest Updates from Our Project:

Project Update #14 - Updated Timeline —plus PDF delivery
over 1 year ago – Mon, May 15, 2023 at 04:23:22 PM

Quick timeline update: after assessing our options for survey and pledge manager options, we've decided to settle on an all-in-one solution. This means that the initial survey will be slightly delayed, but by end of week you should be able to view all of your options in the pledge manager.

Redeeming your PDFs

All of the PDF deliverables should have been distributed by now! You should have received an email with a link to redeem your PDFs on DriveThruRPG.com (if you're still having trouble, contact us via Discord and we'll get you sorted).

If you've had a chance to read through your Nations & Cannons supplements so far, please consider giving us an honest rating or review on DriveThru. It's a major boost to visibility, and will really help this project grow!

As a reminder, we are still writing The American Crisis: War in the North,  Poor Richard's Almanac, and the Benjamin Franklin, Banshee Slayer one-shot. We'll have in-process updates of those publications over the lifetime of the project, and expect them to be available (along with the downloadable token and character sheet stretch goals) in digital and physical form by approximately April of 2024.

Misfire Deck as a PDF

We weren't originally planning on making a digital version of the Black Powder Blunders Misfire Deck publicly available. However, after our last update, quite a few of you reached out to us asking about this! We've created a new listing on our webstore for a standalone PDF of the Misfire Deck. We will continue to provide this gratis for all physical purchases of the card deck.

Do you have some questions? A couple of suggestions? Reach us by DM or Discord 🏛

We hope this update gets you as excited as we are!

Project Update #13 - That's a wrap! — Next steps for Nations & Cannons
over 1 year ago – Thu, May 11, 2023 at 10:18:11 AM

Stand and deliver, backers!

A fully funded project. Eleven stretch goals. The American Revolution brought to life. We can't thank each and every one of you enough for your support. Now, the real work begins! Let me give a quick timeline of the next 2-3 weeks.

  • Today: we will deliver PDF copies on DriveThruRPG of the items you have pledged, for which have already been completed by the Flagbearer Games team. These are the Core Rules and Flintlocks & Fulminates. We will also issue a one-time PDF version of the Misfire Deck so you can get to using it at your tables (not available to the general public).
  • Within 3-4 days: We will have an initial survey available for you to fill out, depending on your pledge tier.
  • Within 2-3 weeks: A pledge manager will come online, and you will be able to make a late pledge or increase your pledge level through this system.

Early Delivery: Core Rules

We have taken stock of our inventory, and have sufficient numbers of the Core Rules Book that we can send out immediately to backers in the United States and US Territories. If your pledge included a physical copy of the Core Rules, the forthcoming survey will collect your shipping information and provide more details about this offer.

Unfortunately, we cannot extend this offer to any of our other products (which we need to produce and/or restock) or to international backers, as the shipping cost outside the domestic US is prohibitively expensive. All other items will be shipped in batch when we finish production of The American Crisis, currently estimated for April of 2024.

Next Steps

In the meantime, keep an eye on this space! We'll be providing additional updates, in-process content drops for The American Crisis as it goes through layout, and behind-the-scenes looks at the mad whirlwind happening in Flagbearer Games! From the bottom of our hearts, we can't express enough how much this opportunity means to us. We hope The American Crisis is the first in a long line of exciting, thoughtful, and well-researched historical sourcebooks for Nations & Cannons

We've done the impossible, and that makes us mighty.

Project Update #12 - Don’t Throw Away Your Shot! Last Chance to Back Nations & Cannons — Koboa: The South American 5e Fantasy Setting
over 1 year ago – Wed, May 10, 2023 at 10:00:09 AM

What a glorious morning for Nations & Cannons!

Don’t forget to pledge before it’s too late! The Nations & Cannons: The American Crisis for DnD 5E Kickstarter ends at 1 PM EST on May 11th. We're only 7K away from adding a whole new Bunker Hill adventure module to the new American Crisis book!

Thank you to everyone who has supported our FIRST Kickstarter and made it a tremendous success! We have unlocked TEN Stretch Goals including: a custom character sheet for N&C,  a Benjamin Franklin Banshee Slayers stand-alone print-and-play adventure, new enemies, downloadable character tokens for VTT, and even submarine rules, to name just a few!

This campaign has really been Flagbearer Games debut and we’re ecstatic about how much the Nations & Cannons community has grown! We recruited Tristan Zimmerman (of the Ennie-award-winning Shanty Hunters) to help us write the Poor Richard's Almanac supplement, we’ve had over 70 new folks join our discord, we have been interviewed by Storyteller Conclave and Armchair Dragoons, and made connections with so many other great creators and designers.

Projects We Love:  Koboa: The South American 5e Fantasy Setting

For those of you looking for more fantasy content set in the Americas we want to introduce you to Koboa. Koboa is a South American Fantasy setting guide for 5e, PF2, and CFR; developed by a 100% South American development team, with contributors from Ecuador, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Colombia and Argentina, as well as members of the Xukuru, Quechua and Kichwa Indigenous peoples.

Within the pages of the Koboa Setting guide, you will find lore on the people and creatures of Koboa, based on our cultures and stories. You'll also find endless player options, including unique subclasses, feats, spells, and forms, our mechanical alternative to races. Koboa itself is a world based on South American cultures and stories. The setting guide includes:

  • 📔 Innovative new Form system. Simple, intuitive system that can produce over 1,400 unique "Races"
  • 📔 2 all-new classes including the Bruje
  • 📔 12+ Subclasses
  • 📔 25 creature stat blocks
  • 📔 Lore and worldbuilding on the Five Territories of Koboa, each based on different parts and peoples of South America

Project Update #11 - Less than 48 hours left!— Plus Everyday Heroes™ Kong: Skull Island and Pacific Rim Launches TODAY!!!
over 1 year ago – Tue, May 09, 2023 at 11:12:28 AM

The Revolution is at hand!

Only two days left to pledge or modify your pledge for Nations & Cannons: The American Crisis for DnD 5E! It's been an amazing campaign and it’s not over yet! We already blew through TEN Stretch Goals! For the 100K goal we’re adding an additional cloth map of Quebec as an option for backers when they select what maps they want in the Pledge Manager. The new map will also be included for free for any Nation Maker pledges, and any Cartographer add-ons will have the option to upgrade their pledge for just $20 to get all five maps with the new Cartographer Plus add-on!

But that’s not all! Our biggest Stretch Goal is our 120K. If we can get to 120K we’ll add a whole brand new adventure that takes you through the first major battle of the Revolution, Bunker Hill. This module will be included in the new American Crisis book and available as a PDF for backers at any level. This adventure will have all-new characters, key moments, and encounters to start your campaign off with a bang!

Projects We Love:  Everyday Heroes™ Kong: Skull Island and Pacific Rim Launches TODAY!

We wanted to take the time out from our regularly scheduled Kickstarter updates and recommend another D&D adjacent game—Everyday Heroes™. The team at Evil Genius Games has been super supportive and helpful with setting up our Kickstarter and I don’t think we could’ve gotten this far without them!

Everyday Heroes™ TTRPG is a 5e version of d20 Modern—Highlander, Pacific Rim, Rambo, Total Recall, The Crow, Kong Skull Island & more. Their new Kickstarter launches TODAY with two exciting new Adventure Paths set in the worlds of Kong: Skull Island and Pacific Rim. Compatible with Everyday Heroes. Pledge on Day 1 (today) and get special prizes.

We’re in talks with the Evil Genius team, and some Zoro content might be on the horizon, so stay tuned!

Project Update #10 - On Liberty Trees — Plus Annotated Atlases!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Apr 28, 2023 at 11:48:15 AM

Happy Arbor Day, horticulturalists!

Let's take this historic opportunity to discuss one of the most potent symbols of the early Revolution in Massachusetts: the Liberty Tree. This great elm at the corner of Essex and Orange was first used as protest site against the Stamp Act in 1765, where angry colonists hung effigies of hated tax collectors from its branches. Over the following decade as protest slowly gave way to armed confrontations, the Liberty Tree became an icon of Boston's ardent arboreal resistance... until Loyalist Nathaniel Coffin Jr. cut it down in 1775!

Well, we're here to tell you that you can strike back against the British Empire! During the Siege of Boston adventure in The American Crisis, the adventurers can infiltrate the city to cause a distraction while the Continental Army mounts cannons on Dorchester Heights! One bonus objective retells the story of the Liberty Tree... and tasks players with burning Nathaniel Coffin Jr.'s home in an act of symbolic comeuppance!

More Annotated Atlases!

A few of you have asked questions about how we plan to use maps in the Gazette, or annotated atlas chapter in The American Crisis! Check it out: here is a link to an in-progress sample chapter that includes descriptions and points of interest for the east coast of North America, as well as the cities of Boston, New York, and Philadelphia.

We've just updated a new 80k stretch goal to add two additional settlements to the Gazette chapter: the Canadien capital of Québec City, and Fort Niagara, a strategic trade and portage site! We're excited to add more content from the Loyalist perspective (or new targets for subterfuge, for the Patriots out there). If we keep up the pace with these stretch goals, there might even be a cloth map for Quebec on the table...
